Aham Brahmasmi 2.0A recorded course by Tushar Mehrotra
जानामि धर्मं न च मे प्रवृत्तिःजानाम्यधर्मं न च मे निवृत्तिःकेनापि देवेन हृदि स्थितेनयथा नियुक्तोऽस्मि तथा करोमि
I know what is right. I do not do it.
Duryodhana, in the Pāṇḍava-gītā. A very old sentence about a very current problem.
This course is a commentary on those four lines, by someone who lived them and then found out why.
Put my name on the listFree. WhatsApp opens with one message, already typed, and no seat is held. Four prices, in order: ₹999, then ₹1,499, then ₹1,999, then ₹2,499.
The verse does not say he lacked knowledge.
Duryodhana is not confused. He can tell right from wrong, and says so twice. What he reports is that something else does the steering: some presence in the heart, and as it directs him, so he acts.
Put plainly, knowing and doing run on two different systems, and the second has never taken an instruction from the first.
The verse, word by word
jānāmi dharmaṃ na ca me pravṛttiḥjānāmy adharmaṃ na ca me nivṛttiḥkenāpi devena hṛdi sthitenayathā niyukto 'smi tathā karomi
- jānāmi dharmaṃ
- I know what is right
- na ca me pravṛttiḥ
- and there is in me no drive toward it
- jānāmy adharmaṃ
- I know what is wrong
- na ca me nivṛttiḥ
- and there is in me no turning away from it
- kenāpi devena
- by some god, whichever it is
- hṛdi sthitena
- seated in the heart
- yathā niyukto 'smi
- as I am directed
- tathā karomi
- so I act
The two words in vermilion are the pair the course is built on: pravṛtti, the drive toward an act, and nivṛtti, the turning away from one. The verse is not quoted as if it stood in the epic or the Gītā. It belongs to the later Pāṇḍava-gītā, and this page claims no more than that.
Four lines. Four movements.
This page reads the verse as a commentator would, line by line. Read that way, each line stands for one movement of the course, in order.
Pattern
You know, and the drive is missing. Pattern is the shape of that missing drive, seen without the story you tell about it.
Trace the outline of what you keep doing. Leave out the story about why.
Defence
You know what is wrong, and you cannot turn away. Defence asks what turning away would cost you.
Find the load the pattern carries. A pattern that old is being paid in some currency.
Witness
Something in the heart directs you. Witness is the part that stands apart and looks on.
Locate a second observer: the part that can watch the pattern and is not the pattern.
Dharma
And still you act. Dharma is choosing that act on purpose.
Specify the act for an ordinary weekday, after the insight has worn off.
Every lesson ends on one small thing to do, before the next idea is handed over.
What the commentary is for
The verse ends: as I am directed, so I act. The course does not promise to silence whatever directs you. What it is built for, in his words, is a pause between the trigger and the act. Sirf ek second. In that second, "as I am directed" becomes a choice.
Who wrote the commentary.
From Banaras. NIT Raipur, then Deloitte, then poems. He taught this course live in five batches, to more than a thousand students. The first batch had fifty seats, and they went in about an hour.
Then he took the website down and went quiet for three years. He read more than 450 books about this very problem, and still the old trigger got the old reaction. Deep in a ten-day silent retreat, on the eighth day, he wept for two hours.
450 kitabon ne jo nahi kiya, woh us ek din body ne kar diya.
It did not come from a summit. It came from a collapse.

Each lesson ends with one small act. A refund is one message, no reason asked. The psychology hours chart the body and diagnose no one.
What can be counted.
The internal run followed the students who took the course from start to end. The figure people repeat for online courses is about one in ten. We did not measure that, and it is not our number.
Read no further if…
- ×₹999 is the main reason you are here. Nothing in the verse is on sale.
- ×You want to feel motivated. Nothing here lifts the mood; it asks you to act.
- ×You want a guru. Nothing here is a rite, and there is no mantra to repeat.
- ×You are looking for treatment. This is not therapy and does not replace it.
- ×You have not yet tried to change, and felt the old habit pull you back.
Still here? Then the questions are next.
Five questions.
I already know all this.
Yes, and that is the diagnosis. Duryodhana knew too, and said so. A pattern can be described to the letter and it still runs.
Is this religion, or therapy?
Neither. There are no rituals and no mantras, and no view on whether God exists. Vedanta is used as a method of inquiry: a claim is tested against your own experience. It does not replace care. If what you carry needs a clinician, take it to one.
Why recorded, and not live?
First live, in five batches; each recording lapsed after a week, and a long stretch is hard to hold. People asked to keep them, so it became short lessons, kept for life.
I never finish courses.
Few do, which is why the lessons are short leaves. In our own internal run, counted student by student, 81% finished. Each leaf ends on one small action.
The verse is in Sanskrit. Do I need to know Sanskrit, or Vedanta?
No. The verse is quoted whole because it is honest about the problem, and every word of it is glossed on the leaf above. What the course needs from you is that you have tried to change something and watched it slide back. Any term it uses is explained in plain English the first time it appears.
Four steps, one direction.
- ₹999seats 1 to 50, the first fifty
- ₹1,499seats 51 to 100, Batch 1
- ₹1,999Batch 2 for seats 101 to 200
- ₹2,499from seat 201, and this one holds
The price follows the seats, never the calendar, and it does not fall. Paid once, kept for life. Batch 1 covers the first 100 seats, with both live sessions. Batch 2 covers seats 101 to 200, live again on the same two days. From seat 201 the sessions come as recordings. The fee covers two texts read together: the philosophy, and 2.0, its psychology, taught live before it is released as a course. When it is released, each seat holder receives it whole and pays nothing further. Later each will be sold by itself, for more than this.
Fourteen days to ask for the money back. One message, no reason asked.
Put your name down.
It costs nothing and holds no seat. You are told the moment the doors open, and you decide then.
